On our drives downtown we pass by several gardens full of flowers in bloom at a fast pace, we pass by too fast to identify anything, so one morning in my sketchbook I tried to capture my “passing flower gardens in a blur" feeling using gouache and ink. I find I crave beauty and want to treasure it when I see it - even fleetingly.
The day of the debate I woke up thinking I needed to remember this flowering persistence …
Earlier in the week there were some doodlebugs in my sketchbook.
Some birds appeared in my sketchbook earlier this week too.
The neighborhood crows have been strutting their stuff in our yard with their wide-waddle steps. Their way of walking reminded me of one of my past artworks in which crows wear Croc shoes, as they do 😉 you know, while they parade around with kitchen utensils. Here it is on a coffee mug I designed.
In the afternoons I've been making progress on my 3d sculpture project titled “Eggheads”. Details on my blog.
FYI: next week I'm sharing a story-poem I wrote and illustrated titled “How to draw a dragon" - I'll be sending it to you midweek because I'm taking time off for my birthday week. During my birthday-time my wife is taking me to a restaurant for an extravagant (coffee, eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, toast! OMG!) breakfast/brunch. Yippee!!! Then I hope to sit quietly outside and read printed books for hours on end! So as part of my birthday I'm giving you, my dear subscribers, a downloadable ebook version of one of my favorite words+art projects titled “How to draw a dragon". I hope you'll enjoy the grumpy dragon and the little rabbit who … well, you'll see when you get my next newsletter. 😁
Here's a peek at the cover …
I hope your weekend and your coming week is pleasant! Thank you in advance for celebrating my birthday with me!

Thank you, to all of you, for your ongoing patronage and support of my work! I appreciate every one of you! If you're a newly paid subscriber please feel free to download any or all of the 16 ebooks that I've written and illustrated which you can download and access anytime you wish from this index page.
Thank you again for being here!! 💚💚💚

Happy Birthday, Sue! I hope you have a wonderful birthday week. I love the “passing flower gardens in a blur" idea. I'll bet there are other "passing by" blurs that would lend themselves to this kind of representation.
