I have sought the meandering rabbit trail of art and books this week while I've kept my ankle fracture elevated in its medical boot which I've named Smithwick. Art, literature and music are enduring comforts for me as I wait to see the foot specialist 5 days from now (yes, I'm counting the days).
Here's a rabbit I drew with blue ink during breakfast.
During another breakfast I did more blue ink drawings in which I speculate where the rabbit is going and possibly why.
Another day because it amused me I took that artwork and made a 15oz coffee mug titled “A Rabbit Trail”.
More views of this 15oz mug are available, as well as access to the cup itself, here.
I've been reading Asimov's “Foundation” to our dachshund.
Our cat is enjoying Hemingway's “Old Man and the Sea”.
These rabbit trail “classic” books are fun and nicely distracting.
Especially wonderful are our friends who dropped by with a care package containing roast chicken, bread and salad with root beer floats for dessert!!
Loving friends and family are the best, most enduring, comfort of all!!
Because it is pleasant to do so I'm working on a newsletter in which I'll share my kitchen sketchbook full of love and favorites with you as a downloadable ebook on Feb 13th.
I wish for you some comforting and fun rabbit trails to follow this week.
I love your use of blue ink in recent days! It reminds me of one of my favorite children's books, "Blueberries for Sal," by Robert McCloskey.
'Smithwick' - that's adorable! As are your beautifully well-read pets. Another lovely post, Sue!
