The above drawing was based on a flower in our garden. A photo is here so you can see what I drew from.
Besides drawing and painting flowers (and animals and food) there's a Korean practice called Chaekgeori in which I enjoy as a sort of default subject matter in my sketchbooks. Chaekgeori is the visual study of “books and things" that originated in the late 19th and early 20th century. https://www.artic.edu/artworks/185180/chaekgeori
Here's one late morning Chaekgeori effort. The books and things I was looking at….
…my drawing…
…and so you can see the finished sketchbook page without my fingers in the way.
The orange book depicted above is my “poetry sketchbook” in which I handwrite poems and sometimes illustrate them. Sometimes I just read aloud from the book as I did for a poem I wrote for my birthday titled “You Are Old Aunt Sue". You can see it here:
Since it was my birthday this week my spouse took me to a local fountain pen store called Oblation Papers And Press
https://www.oblationpapers.com/
where I chose a new extra fine nib TWSBY ECO fountain pen and a new to me ink by Noodlers called Heart Of Darkness. In order to play with my new pen and ink I made use of the Chaekgeori concept again.
I really like the new fountainpen and the new ink! I also love the pun of creating my whimsical art with the Heart Of Darkness. Lol! Anyway, I hope you have as inspiring and as relaxing a weekend as possible.
I enjoyed the pun of your drawing pen and ink with pen and ink.
I just read about Chaekgeori via the link you shared. Very interesting!
