During day 3 of wearing a green cast on my right leg our dear friend, Keri, contacted me to say she, too, was wearing a green cast on her right leg. She's been wearing a cast for a number of weeks already and is now a pro at wearing a cast so she became my coach! “The first two weeks are the hardest” she said “embrace the frustration”.
So the next morning, I wrote her advice in my sketchbook and illustrated it.
Keri's advice reminded me that, even while frustrating, this recovery time is also an opportunity to read books and try new art studio supplies and methods.
Another morning I drew this sketchbook page with blue ink.
Earlier, I did a portrait of my leg in the black medical boot. Here's that portrait in a previous newsletter. So now, here's a portrait of my green cast.
Here below is what I was looking at when creating the above drawing.
I also worked this week, with my wife's help, on making adjustments to the ways I make my fine art so I can accommodate my leg and create the art I want to make. To test the system, so to speak, I created a small 5 x 7 inch painting and turned it into a greeting card. I chose the sentiment “you are enough” to remind myself that it's “enough” to just rest.
Here's a look at the card and here's a link to access it on my Zazzle shop.
If you're interested in the art studio adjustments, info about my paints, how I made the art for the card or what book I'm currently reading, my recent blog post has that.
I hope you too can remember that you are enough and that you have friends and family to help you through things.

Oh this just uplifts me and melts my heart. Love the toe cozy images and that cookie looks amazing. Maybe I borrow that quote about books and wine? It's perfection!
Love all of those pieces, but the Bear grabbed me🤩
