The last 4 weeks have been busy as I prepared for my one-person fine art exhibit at the Caplan Art Designs Gallery and I needed to keep my social media on the topic of my fine art. So I did. Mostly. And yet, to keep grounded, to keep Zen about it all, I still did my morning sketchbook routine. I just didn't share my sketchbook pages … except occasionally on Substack Notes. 😁
Since I was so busy and breakfast time was shorter I preselected my “stock character” of a cat and an art supply/media that I would use each morning in my sketchbook. This eliminated any need to make decisions and helped me maintain my sketchbook habit despite the time crunch.
So over a number of breakfasts I drew these cats using my fountain pen with blue ink in it.
Our cat approved my choice of subject matter in general…
… and this drawing in particular.
He also liked my drawing of a cat walking through a Zen garden, or as one of my subscribers said when I shared this drawing on Notes, “an enlightened litter box”.
Over a number of breakfasts a blue cat graffiti artist drew on a wall.
In one of my newsletters, when my busy time began, I had shared this sketchbook page of cats enjoying various comforts. Several of you said it reminded you of the blue patterns on chinaware…
… and several of you asked me to make one of my mugs with that sketchbook page. So I did. You can access it here.
And then one morning I drew a wee dog…
… and because it makes me laugh I put that artwork on a mug too. Access here.
Of course our cat, and resident art critic, felt I was deviating from the “proper subjects for art" and should get back to drawing cats. Ah well. Can't please everyone.
Speaking of being pleased … the Gallery sent me this photo of a kid enjoying my artwork before that painting was pulled from the wall to be shipped to it's new happy home...
… yes, that painting is in the process of saying “Oui, Oui, Oui!” all the way home!
And I'm tired but happy. Thank you again for being here with me, for all of your kind comments and for sharing my work! I appreciate you! 💚💚
P.S. my fine art exhibit related artist books can be found and downloaded from my artist book index page here. My exhibit will continue throughout October and then my artwork will continue to be accessible via the Caplan Art Designs Gallery.
So good 😊 I wish I had that talent!!!
Sorry, feline resident art critic, "Wee Wee Dog" is my favorite.
