I’ve been thinking of clarity. What if love is clarity of perception and accuracy of response? What if love is a shared project? We build our world together and clear communication is helpful.
Here's another sketchbook page on the topic of love.
Yes, we build our world together and we love together every day. This notion is behind the cookbook I recently illustrated titled “Kim Cooks Sue Draws”
Heres the official book description “The line between the fine arts and the culinary arts is merely a suggestion for both Chef Kim Mahan and artist Sue Clancy. Feeling free to color outside the lines of typical cookbook publications the authors decided to make a cookbook that’s more than a bound book of recipes – becoming a collection of artistic interpretations of food-ideas. Playful artwork that you can also use to cook, share and eat with people you love.” Here's a look at some pages.
This illustrated cookbook is a limited special edition only available in person from Chef Kim Mahan

Here's a video flip through of the printed cookbook https://youtube.com/shorts/qc-enaNkPqY?feature=share
I’ve also finished an illustrated poetry book for children, titled Patchwork Poems, which will go “live" as an ebook this weekend at Storyberries.com! I’ll share that link when I have it! Last week I wrote about the original artist book and how I pieced it together …
… now here's a look at the printed book.
Like the cookbook Patchwork Poems is about sharing love and being clear about what you need, like, want, hope for etc.
Also on the topic of love and having a clear awareness of history and proportion: this week I shared another fully baked but not yet cream-cheese-frosted (made into a printed book) story from my two sketchbooks. The book on the left has the handwritten story “The Famous Visitor” and a tiny drawing. The book on the right has a larger version of the drawing.
And here's the link for the story.
I plan to keep sharing my illustrated stories - as well as share whole sections of my sketchbooks - so if you're not currently a paid subscriber I hope you'll consider becoming one. I'm thinking of the paid section of this newsletter as a kind of “book of the month” club but you get to see my artist books as they're in progress. Your support and encouragement is appreciated!
I hope your weekend is full of love.
Another offering in the pinkie extended series? He reminds me of Mardi Gras! Those orange scones sound SO good!
How joyous! And such a splendid review from Bonnie. Cooking is another art form that I’ve come to live.
