Here's a gouache painting on board that derives from a recent sketchbook page that I shared last Friday. I've titled it “Higgledy-Piggledy”.
So you don't have to go back to my earlier post here below is the sketchbook page that led to the painting above.
Elephants became a new sketchbook character one morning this week during breakfast.
On different morning I tried another elephant.
And still another morning during breakfast I just drew my breakfast itself. Of course by the time I took this photo of my finished drawing my croissant had been eaten.
Yes, I like using physical and paper to think with in the mornings. It's a gentle way to start a day.
Here's a link to another email newsletter that talks about movies, historical dramas, that reflect the importance of pen and ink on paper.
Also on the topic of physical pen and paper use; I love this book, Art Before Breakfast by Danny Gregory, and I have it on my “Loved Books" book list (link on the header for my newsletter) in two places! This book is that helpful and encouraging of simple, daily, hand-made mark making - it's a soul restorative book - so much so that I've included it twice! This gentle book does not presume the reader has any prior art experience. More details about the book here https://bookshop.org/a/86356/9781452135472
I hope your weekend is relaxing and restorative. Thanks for being here.
I love the “Higgledy-Piggledy” painting! (Higgledy-piggledy" is one of my favorite words.
Was the croissant store-bought or homemade?
