In 2020 I wrote and illustrated a poem about cats and numbers – a playful summing up of what can happen when everyone brings something pleasant to the table.
The poem and the cat portraits I created were inspired by the cat stories and photos my friends were kind enough to share with me. You could say that this book itself is a compounding potluck event – a notion that adds to the fun.
Printed books are available via this link https://www.blurb.com/b/10297565-numpurrs and a downloadable ebook is at the bottom of this newsletter.
Here's a look at a few of the 36 pages…
At the back of the book I included (with permission) in puzzle-fashion the photos of the real life cats that I did portraits of along with a clue about which photo matches which portrait by way of page numbers and an answer key. Here's an example…
Numpurrs became a popular book on Storyberries.com where it's been read over 25,000 times! You can see Numpurrs for free without downloading anything by clicking this link https://www.storyberries.com/bedtime-stories-numpurrs-by-clancy-free-counting-books-for-kids/
And yes people asked me to make a Numpurrs mug. I've been told this mug holds hot chocolate well.
Also requested was wrapping paper…
So you see how one thing leads to another and the fun adds up!

Sue! The cat shelter I volunteer with has a program called "Cat Tales" wherein young readers sign up to come in and read to the kitties. There is a special blanket they spread out, a nook, and a bookshelf full of great titles, many cat-themed. Of course, children can bring their own books, too!
When the kitties in the shelter see the blanket spread out, they come for story time! Parents have reported that tentative young readers become more confident and often read out loud in the car on the way home. The cats listen quietly, take an interest in the children and books, and are nonjudgmental. Our shelter rep just purchased a copy of Numpurrs for the Cat Tales program!! Loving this SO much! 😻❤️ -Kate
Aw what a gift! Thank you Sue!
