Yes!!! America can indeed be such a weird place! It still spins my head to think about the wildly different reactions, in different regions of the US, to the very same artwork!
Similarly when in the past I've participated in art events in Australia, Ireland, Canada, Mexico... my art "fit in" those places much more than it did in the U.S. south (red-state republican regions).
Such an odd feeling...
