It's a perfect height.

Lol!!!! Thank you!!!! I had such fun finding a mug shape that would accommodate a tall giraffe!!! 🤣🤣🤣💚💚💚💚

I saw the title of this piece, and your pub, and didn’t consciously register your name. After two pics of your drawings, I thought I recognized it as your work. (The cat was a big giveaway!) So, in between bites of my breakfast, I looked. And guess what!? You have a style, I have an eye, and happy Friday!

'I'd rather draw than doomscroll' - yes, yes, yes!

I'm trying to get into the habit of drawing more often, and to my delight it's taking the pressure off my focus on the end product and reminding me how very much I enjoy the PROCESS! Thank you so much for sharing your technique here - you're such an inspiration. xxx

Yes!! That's it exactly!!! Focus on the process not the end result!! Whenever I open my sketchbook I try to channel the spirit of a 7 year old kid laying in the middle of the floor with a stack of paper, a full box of crayons, pencils and markers just scribbling happily!! A sketchbook is a fun place to play!!

I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed what I shared!! Thank you!!! Hugs to you!! 💚💚💚💚💚

Around January, I made a commitment to myself to do exactly that, and (for the most part) haven’t looked back. It has taken a conscious effort but the difference it makes never ceases to amaze me.

Yes!! Exactly!! It is indeed hard sometimes to resist but like you mentioned my day is also more rewarding when I really do follow my mantra “art first everything else later”.

Solidarity with you!!! 💚💚💚💚

Thank you for showing us your eating-breakfast method of drawing! I love the giraffe mug. What size would that be equivalent to at Starbucks, I wonder?

Expand full comment

You're so welcome!!! My giraffe mug holds 17 ounces - slightly larger (by 1 ounce) than the Starbucks “grande" size. Does that help??

Expand full comment

Yes, it does!! I was thinking maybe grande.

Thank you so much for the lovely drawings and the how-to guide. I still haven’t got round to trying the e-pencil on my new iPad, so you’ve given me a good place to start.

I keep sane with a virtual pottery app: you shape the clay and after ‘firing’ decorate with designs and colours from sets collected through the game.

I'm glad you liked what I shared!! And I'm delighted that I've given you a good place to start!!! Oooh and keeping sane with a pottery app sounds wonderful!!! Yes, more sanity and more art please!!! Bravo!!!! 💚💚💚💚

Your Fairy Goddaughter certainly knows how to pick a beautiful rose! It is a stunner! No wonder you wanted to capture it in a drawing. Thank you for sharing how you do that! And for including your sweet cat and open book (love that bit!) and the well worth pondering Andrew Juniper quote! Must admit you are tempting me to learn to do some of this!!!! In whatever way that may turnout, I want to get in on the fun of trying it and see what happens. What a great way to start the day!

I'm delighted that you enjoyed what I shared today - and I do hope you play with sketchbooking too! It is such fun to, as you say, "try it and see what happens"!!! And I'm still pondering that Andrew Juniper quote too 💚💚💚💚 Happy Friday!!!

The giraffe mug is totally rad, Sue! 🦒

May I ask you a practical question? How do you create the mugs? I see you sell them on your website. Do you just have thousands of products at your house that you ship out to your customers or do you do this a different way? I’m curious because I’ve had friends ask me to create some products like mugs and stickers with my artwork and I have no idea where to begin (or if I even want to do it, lol 😂)

Thank you in advance for your reply…I was going to DM you or email you but I couldn’t figure out how to do so 🙈

If you prefer to email me a reply, you can reach me at calmspiritwellbeing@gmail.com.

You are such an inspiration for me and I’m ever grateful to have found you here! ❤️❤️‍🔥

I'm delighted that you liked my mug and that you asked the question!!! I use Zazzle.com (if you follow the link for my giraffe mug you can see my Zazzle "shop" as well as find FAQ info about Zazzle) In a nutshell I create my artwork, upload it to my Zazzle account and use their system to design a product. I use my laptop computer to do the design work. The products with my art on them are created when a customer orders it and then it's shipped to the customer. I don't have to worry about having products at my studio or mailing them to customers. I like using a print-on-demand company like Zazzle for this reason. It also appeals to both my ecological senses and my non-capitalitistic senses in this way too.

Also I barely mention my various products much in my social media or in real life. The Zazzle company does a pretty good job of making my work generically findable if someone, for example, wants a gift for a giraffe lover. Zazzle also makes it for fans of my artwork to be able to search by my name for new art/products I've made.

Does this help answer your question? I'll send you an email too in a second...
