As you know I share my sketchbook pages here each week but it's been a while since I showed you where my sketchbook pages happen. So, a hearty welcome to my new subscribers and here's a photo of the corner of our breakfast nook where I create most of my morning sketchbook pages.
As I mentioned in my last newsletter the black books on the right are my sketchbooks and the patterned book in the middle is my notebook. Both books have the kind of paper that accepts fountain pen ink. The paper in the sketchbooks also accepts gouache, watercolors, color pencils and all sorts of ink. To the left, in the photo above, are my glorious fountain pens! The flat black thing on the far left of the pens is a book weight which is used to hold my books open. I also use clips sometimes to hold books open.
Here below is another photo of the pens - aren't they handsome? Oh, my water brush photobombed the fountain pen pic ( it's 2nd from the left) but it's essential to breakfast creativity too so I don't mind it being there 😁
The other location I do my sketchbook pages is on our patio. I just carry my sketchbook and that days chosen pens or paints outside with me.
Here are a few sketchbook pages from three different days this week.
I've been practicing drawing cats in my sketchbook because I want to do more greeting cards… like this one I did sometime ago. 👇
On a doggie note: I learned this week that my book The Professional Dog made the Storyberries top 10 alphabet book for kids list!!!
I wrote and illustrated this book by using reference photos of dogs owned by various friends who work in an alphabetic list of professions. Turns out I know, in real life, an accountant, a botanist, a chef… etc …. who have dogs! So all of my friends inspired this kids book - and creating this book was a way to love all of my friends and their dogs!
You can see The Professional Dog as a free ebook on Storyberries.com here https://www.storyberries.com/bedtime-stories-the-professional-dog-abc-alphabet-books-for-kids/
You can get printed books online here: https://www.blurb.com/b/10926040-the-professional-dog or in person at the Aurora Gallery www.auroragalleryonline.com
I hope your day and your whole weekend is relaxing, fun and full of creativity!
I love that your Professional Dog Alphabet book has found an appreciative audience! It's a wonderful book!
I love the sketch with the quote about the value of an unread library. I've gone on this book-buying-binge for awhile now after a couple of years of restraining my habit to read the books I already had. How foolish of me. I want people to buy my books, so why not feed karma and enjoy others' books? Even if they pile up next to my favorite chair. Thank you, Sue, again for a lovely reminder.
