I love reading about your forest coffee shop on the way to the Pacific, and now I want to find it! Thanks for bringing so much love and whimsy to my mornings!
You're so welcome!! I'm glad to add a mental hug to the start of your day! The forest coffee shop is on Hwy 26 towards Seaside Oregon. It's called "Sunset Coffee". If you're heading towards the ocean it's on your left. It is literally blink and you'll miss it - but it is worth keeping your eyes open for. Here's a Yelp link I found for it so you can at least see a photo of it and the forest around it. https://m.yelp.com/biz/sunset-coffee-seaside-4
Good old HWY 26! I used to show at a gallery out in Sheridan OR, and we got tired of driving through Portland to deliver paintings. We found what I used to call "the bootleggers route". Cross the bridge at Longview/Kelso, and pick up HWY 30 heading west. At the top of the hill follow the signs to Vernonia (I think it's HWY 47) It takes you through the woods and the mountains, stop in Vernonia to refuel at Black Bear coffee, then finally you end up on 26, head east for a few miles, then 47 continues south through Banks, Forest Grove, and a bunch of other little towns, till you end up in Yamhill, Carlton and McMinnville. Good times!
Leave paintings, visit wineries, and have a good dinner or two, before eventually heading for home.
I highly recommend it, other than the logging trucks that go roaring through there. We finally got good at timing our travels so that we were going opposite directions from them (which could still be scary, but not as scary as having them right on your rear bumper!
A delight from start to finish, Sue! Thank you for another joyful read.
I smiled out loud (yes, that's a thing!) when I read about the sign which read: COFFEE! There's SO much more impact to 'COFFEE!' than 'COFFEE'. In fact the next time I'm seeking a hot drink when I'm out about about I shall insist on coffee! and not just coffee.
Seeing your rabbits always gives me a lift when I'm feeling down. I think their big thumper feet must have something to do with it. I get such a kick out of those feet.
I love that memory of the drive to the ocean. I really love little places like that, a coffee fruit and vege stop in a peaceful setting on the way to somewhere else. We had a wonderful cathedral-like forest in our mountains with a beautiful tea jam and vege spot nearby. Unfortunately the forest was irreparably burned in our horrendous bushfire year and the tea place also appears to have closed. Thank goodness I have the memories.
Beautiful arting once again. Thanks so much for sharing. 🤗😘🥰
I'm so glad you have good memories of your own special spot - and I'm very sorry to hear about the fire. Thanks for sharing the pleasure of simple pleasant stops... may we have many more as time goes. Hugs to you if you'll accept them! 💚💚💚
Love the drawings, as always, but also especially loved the image you painted with words in your intro. And the description of why you create these "old-fashioned" wonderful things. I have written before about Slow Crafting and the value in this.
Thank you for including the article by More Tortoise Less Hare. I've discovered my hands are starting to weaken and my handwriting resembles that of my father's in his old age. My daughter gave me a book to write memories in for posterity which I started to write in recently. Two exercises in one: handwriting and remembering. I also plan to write a letter to my miscarried child. I've often wondered about that little lost soul.

Oh thank you so much!!! I appreciate your kindness!! I'm curious about what you've written about Slow Crafting... do you have a link you can share?
Most of what comes to mind is in print but I might have some PDFs. I will look and circle back.
