I doodle. Well I thought I did until I saw yours. Itโ€™s like me saying I play golf when thereโ€™s Tiger Woods. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Everyone's doodling and golf games are welcome and needed in this world!!! What pen company could stay in business if there were only me to use the pens? What golf club could stay in business if only Tiger Woods were allowed on the greens? So please doodle and golf with the knowledge that you are wanted, needed and necessary too!!! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

Thank you! Thank you! I was known โ€œat the officeโ€ as a doodler (none as lovely as yours). Every โ€œmeetingโ€ Iโ€™d come in with paper and pen- not for notes but to doodle. It helped me think. Focused me believe it or not!!

I've read scientific studies that provided proof that people who doodled in class or meetings actually retained more information than people who didn't!!! So yes, your doodling *did* help you think!!! Keep doodling!!!! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

I rarely doodle. Did let the pencil and pen loose and romantically roam in love circles many times in youth filled days. Your doodles awaken a time of joy.

Doodle bug footprints across pages lead one to humor. Reminds me of an iridescent green fig beetle. I.E Egyptian scarab or dung beetle semiprecious worn by royalty.

Sue Clancy's avatar

Yes!!! They definitely lead to humor!!! I laugh every time I think of how the high-muckety-mucks would proudly wear a bug that literally crawls on poo - it reminds me that no matter how pretentious someone acts the reality is usually something else... ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿž๐Ÿž๐Ÿž

Besides humans literally wouldn't be alive if it weren't for all the bugs that pollinate and scavenge...so any time I'm tempted to think I'm special I remember the importance of bugs. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

Thanks for asking!! My ankle is making good progress! I'm still doing my exercises every day with my meals! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I'll be in physical therapy through November and I feel like my ankle is beginning to really improve now!!

How's your hurty knee doing??

Youโ€™re so good at keeping up the exercises! Your persistence is admirable!

My hurty knee is doing amazingly, Iโ€™ve even managed some short hikes. But unlike you Iโ€™ve not been keeping up my exercises and I need telling off! I have a physio appointment next week so I hope heโ€™ll give me some accountability to get me back into strengthening it again. Itโ€™s doing great but I still feel a difference between the two knees ๐Ÿฆต ๐Ÿฆต xx

Wonderful post! Wonderful! Awesome sculpture (as is all your 2D art too, of course!)!

I found myself at the beach on Sunday and thought of you - I enjoyed drawing what I'm calling 'rockadoodles', and of course your Doodlebugs came to mind! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I love your doodle bug sculpture!! I think it would fit right into the Fairbanks Museum in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. https://fairbanksmuseum.org/collections/

After reading your post, I couldn't resist going into Google Scholar and searching for journal articles on doodling. 27,600 hits!

Thank you so much for your kindness!! And for the link to the Vermont museum!! I'll check it out!!!

The amount of scholarship on the topic of doodling is indeed remarkable. Practicing an art form - even one as simple as doodling - has dramatic health benefits even if you're not โ€œgoodโ€ at drawing or writing or music etc. I've also read more than a few scientific studies that show how helpful to ones health just viewing art, listening to music or reading a story can be.

Anyway, I have begun to firmly believe that a home first aid kit should include, alongside the asprin, bandaids and benadryl, some story books, music albums and art supplies.

Youโ€™re welcome, Sue! Yes, to the music albums and art supplies/writing implements. I do feel better physically and emotionally when I create fiction or poetry.
