Any expression of creativity allows your soul to exhale.

Yes indeed!!!! And creativity is a soul-growing action process *not* primarily a consumer product. Sometimes a product is one result of creative activities but it's a by product, an ephemeral "extra", and not the main thing.

'Talking our way out of perfection' is the technique we all need to use all the time. Unfortunately we all do the opposite - 'talking our way into perfection' and end up being miserable. Great reflections as usual Sue, and soothing sketches. Glad to hear you are having physiotherapy for your injured ankle.

@Sue Clancy ... oh ... your images! they always make me hungry to be able to add sketches to my journaling process. I want to rush right out and buy every thing you mention. Then, I have to remind myself that that is what I do best ... buy art supplies which usually wind up unused, adding to my feelings of guilt. I did cave and bought the Daikubara book.

I'm glad my creativity inspires your own creative thoughts!! And the Color Firsr book is fun to look at even if one doesn't actually follow the instructions! Hope you'll enjoy it!! 💚💚💚💚💚

When I worked in Physical Therapy, we would jokingly ask our patients to perform 10,000 quad sets daily in hopes they might perform 10! Be kind to yourself, listen to your body. Your therapy team wants to see you succeed!

I have been meaning to tell you about a marvelous book, My Dog, My Buddha. I am so glad I read this when Dobbins was a puppy. He, and it taught me a lot about being/ staying present and mindfulness. Your soul work always lightens my heart!

My takeaway from this post is the second sketchbook page: getting better at living. Words to live by for perfectionist me!

Thank you!!! Fyi: I've even caught myself trying to perfectly be a non-perfectionist. 🤦‍♀️

So just "practice getting better at living" is something I constantly remind myself.

Sending you hugs and love! 💚💚

Yesterday I ended up writing a poem about the pain I felt.

I'm a budding painter, working with colors. I may try to add a visual element to my notebooks. Those flow pens may work. Or maybe I could just have a small paint set if watercolors to brush the page. I'm going to work in this.

I just looked back at your original piece and I have internalized what you said overnight--colir first. !!! How about them apples!!!

Your little dragon was an instant friend of mine.

Cheers

"Good enough will be good enough" is spot on, in so many things. Also, I'm going to check out “Color First Ink later” for sure. Continue to heal and feel better and better, every day. Your sketchbook is amazing, btw.

Very nice. revelatory for me to realize what I would consider a successful person to express self diubt. I love what you are doing. Thanks for sharing.

I had a short period in my day today when I felt wounded. I'm starting to apply some of the things I sm learning here on Substack. Your self talk trick would have been helpful.

Anyway, enjoy what is left of your day. We've got sunny skies in my town.

The links (words in bold) go to helpful techniques I use often. To doubt is human. To imagine is human. We're in this life together. Yes, let's enjoy what's left of this day!! How’s physical therapy going? I imagine uncomfortable? 💚

So kind of you to ask! Physical therapy has been very gentle and helpful- it's surprising me in nice ways! Primarily they've taught me to walk better and more comfortably with my crutches. They also explained more helpfully what "elevate foot" means by using photos!! I've been doing it better now!! Similarly they've explained what "rest the foot" means with specific "do this for 20 minutes" kinds of instructions! So I'm beginning to feel a bit better and more hopeful that eventually this will resolve. I have at least 5 more weeks of therapy ahead of me... so we'll see how it goes 🤞💚💚💚

Oh that’s good! It’s nice to feel like you’re being supported. It’s sounds like you’ve got some great guides. I love visual instructions too, so much easier to get the head round. I keep all my fingers crossed 🤞 for you, I hope it continues to be useful and that you feel heard 💚 I think the latter is the most important to recovery. ❤️‍🩹

I’ve seen big improvements the last few days. First the swelling reduced a lot and then I could bend it much more. Still can’t bare weight and can be sore, but I’m grateful for the improvements to keep me positive. I have the doctor’s appointment Wednesday, so fingers crossed 🤞 I’m trying to just follow what the knee is saying. 💚
