Thank you Professor Sue! Of all the “morning briefings” that pour out of social media, et. al, yours sets a fine start to the day 💖😊🥰

'Talking our way out of perfection' is the technique we all need to use all the time. Unfortunately we all do the opposite - 'talking our way into perfection' and end up being miserable. Great reflections as usual Sue, and soothing sketches. Glad to hear you are having physiotherapy for your injured ankle.

@Sue Clancy ... oh ... your images! they always make me hungry to be able to add sketches to my journaling process. I want to rush right out and buy every thing you mention. Then, I have to remind myself that that is what I do best ... buy art supplies which usually wind up unused, adding to my feelings of guilt. I did cave and bought the Daikubara book.

When I worked in Physical Therapy, we would jokingly ask our patients to perform 10,000 quad sets daily in hopes they might perform 10! Be kind to yourself, listen to your body. Your therapy team wants to see you succeed!

I have been meaning to tell you about a marvelous book, My Dog, My Buddha. I am so glad I read this when Dobbins was a puppy. He, and it taught me a lot about being/ staying present and mindfulness. Your soul work always lightens my heart!

My takeaway from this post is the second sketchbook page: getting better at living. Words to live by for perfectionist me!

Yesterday I ended up writing a poem about the pain I felt.

I'm a budding painter, working with colors. I may try to add a visual element to my notebooks. Those flow pens may work. Or maybe I could just have a small paint set if watercolors to brush the page. I'm going to work in this.

I just looked back at your original piece and I have internalized what you said overnight--colir first. !!! How about them apples!!!

Your little dragon was an instant friend of mine.

Cheers

Wonderful. I especially like the line about letting others admire how you deal with imperfection.

"Good enough will be good enough" is spot on, in so many things. Also, I'm going to check out “Color First Ink later” for sure. Continue to heal and feel better and better, every day. Your sketchbook is amazing, btw.

Very nice. revelatory for me to realize what I would consider a successful person to express self diubt. I love what you are doing. Thanks for sharing.

I had a short period in my day today when I felt wounded. I'm starting to apply some of the things I sm learning here on Substack. Your self talk trick would have been helpful.

Anyway, enjoy what is left of your day. We've got sunny skies in my town.
