"Much of the above tree drawing became more imaginary than realistic. I wasn't about to tell our cat he was blocking my view 🤣 so I finished my tree drawing from memory and imagination."

Ah crows. We have crows this time of year. I like to hear them cawing, but their cries were muffled by falling snow. (Full disclosure: sometimes the bunch of them look like extras in Tippi Hedren’s scenes in The Birds.)

I love your colorful birds! The quote from your dad is the highlight of your post for me. It describes my writing process to a T!

“We do our best thinking when we're able to observe things in the real world and then imagine how that observable fact might affect our own and others’ lived experiences. We also think better when we're willing to imagine that what we think we observe or what we think we know might be wrong!”

Your adopted dad and you reading the same book and discussing?!🤗🥰🎉🎉✨

The Log from the Sea of Cortez was/is one of my favorite books! My high school marine biologist teacher got us to read it and I absolutely fell in love. With the story and John Steinbeck 💙💙💙💙💙

I loved the cat part of this 🐈‍⬛ hehe made me chuckle, and I particularly enjoyed your joining!

I’ve been thinking of you lots and have invested in a book by Fernando Marías! I couldn’t get the one you suggested in the beautiful shop I was, but it’s ordered, so in the meantime I have La Casa (the house) and oh what a joy it was to read!

Oh good!!! I'm delighted to hear that you've indulged yourself in some new books!!! Isn't it the most delicious feeling in the world to settle into a comfortable chair, open a new book, and let an author tell you a story???!!!! And I'm glad to hear you enjoyed my cat's part in my post!!! 🤣😘💚💚💚💚

It is indeed! I’ve managed to find another book of his in the library so looking forward to indulging in that. 💚💚

My husband has said the film is on his to-watch list, so we're going to watch the film after I've finished. I started it last night and it's lovely so far, albeit a bit sad.

I'm looking forward to making the library part of my routine! :)

That's wonderful both that you've found the film and that you'll make the library part of your routine!! I love having the library as part of my routine- and it's wonderfully freeing to feel I can check out books and look at them as much or as little as I want - no book reports or tests only the fun!!

Another film and book that you might like is Whiskey Galore by Compton Mackenzie (it's less sad).

Oh I finished the book (wrinkles) and it was beautiful 🥲 I feel like I’m now hooked on his work!

I’ve saved your suggestion of book and film. I’ll get my husband to put it onto my ebooky thing ha. As you can tell not too good with the technology! But it’s handy as I can read when he wants the light off, thus saving our marriage.

I look forward to another suggestion of yours 😍 Keep them coming!

Sue, you're an inspiration. In particular, your picture of 'creativity is the process of thinking of something and then putting some colors around your thought' will stay with me for a long time! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful words and art.

So cold over your way. Sigh. But very beautiful when you're in a warm house looking out. Beautiful arting. Imagination is so important yet so frowned upon. I'm in awe of the creativity of those with a good imagination. I guess we all have a mix of practicality and creativity. We work out where we fit...

Hugs to both of you. All the best.
