Here's a sketchbook page in which I thought about the pleasure of having hobbies, things done just for fun, and how essential they are to good mental health and our perceptions of the world.
Especially during times of stress having a hobby or two (or seven) can be a way to feed the good wolf rather than allowing oneself to sit there and stew…
Here's a story I illustrated in Dr. Bob's Emotional Repair Program First Aid Kit about feeding good wolves.
As you know I have a fountain pen drawing/writing hobby, a book reading hobby, a cooking hobby… and now my new hobby is sharing my sketchbooks with you! I’m sharing often from one or both of my sketchbooks; my poem/story sketchbook and from my art sketchbook. Here's a recent post in which I share a long sequence of pages from my art sketchbook. I’m thinking I’ll publish entire sketchbooks a section at a time this way…🤔 … for my paid subscribers as a kind of “book of the month club" but in my style.
Here's an illustration in progress for a fictional story that I’ll share soon.
Thank you so much for sharing the fun with me! I hope you too have several hobbies that you can enjoy regularly!
P.S. in fun news: my newest childrens book, Patchwork Poems is available as a printed book and as an ebook and audiobook on Storyberries.com
I don't know that I have any hobbies. Maybe driving around with my husband looking for inspiration photos to take would be considered a hobby. We do have fun!
