Sir Buttermore is gorgeous, Sue - I love how novelty toast led you to create him! Reading about your process is always something I enjoy immensely - I'm way behind on time I've been able to spend on Substack, but catching up with your recent posts is my Saturday lunchtime treat. Thank you!
I love great cups but I have my everyday cup and my weekend cup! I have seen and purchased beautiful cups that just didn't work! Usually the lip was too thick and I would dribble with embarrassment. Those cups are then repurposed to hold pens and brushes and are still pleasing to behold but not to sip!
My hard laugh of today was my husband’s response to me saying I’m considering microblading eyebrows. He said he was going to tattoo his hair back on along his (very receded) hairline. His mum then very seriously said that men do that, oh I was laughing so much, then his mum said I liked tattoos and so would like it 😅
I love how your morning musings lead to such delightful and whimsical thoughts! Thank you for sharing these charming snippets of your morning routine and the inspirations behind your sketches.
Ahhh! How wonderful, Sir Buttermore, indeed! I adore him. You are 100% right about seeing animals in toast, food, whatever. You said it much more eloquently, but really! Like the rabbit who emerged from the stain on your tablecloth? I super relate! The lesson I take from the insight is: run far away from anyone who tells you that not only do they NOT see the rabbit in the Fiestaware pitcher, but that you are crazy. Yep, real life story. I still see a rabbit in that pitcher, like, duh, how can you not? Keep up the amazing work, friend Sue! I think we need a "religion" for those of us who see our saints in toast. And pitchers. Especially animals. And clouds, tablecloth stains, piles of laundry, leaves, popcorn, fur tumbleweeds rolling across the floor, and small piles of m&m s. Like a Rorschach test in 3D.
Ooooh!!! Yes!!! Now that you mentioned her our dear Lady Cinnamon Sugar will probably be getting up and dressed very soon!!!!! (And thanks for the suggestion!!!!!! 💚💚💚)
I just love the way you turn your morning musings into lovely artwork. What a gift!
Awww thank you so much!!! 💚💚
I feel like I've seen Hello Kitty toast gadgets from Japan.
Of course you can get Hello Kitty everything in Japan...
Lol!!! How purrrfectly fun!!!!

I have cups like that too that didn't work as drinking cups - for the very reasons you mentioned- but they work great to hold pens and brushes!! 💚
That’s an hilarious toast gadget and have many a person in my life who’d also laugh!
It's fun to have people in our lives who laugh easily isn't it?? 💚💚

Sue, what joy to start off my day! I would love toasts with designs on them, and I love cups too, especially those with a little lip.
I'm glad you enjoyed what I shared - and that you like toast and cups too!!! So nice to know I'm not the only one!!
