Oh goodness!! I send all my sympathy and empathy to you instantly at reading the words "nightmare" and "home remodel" in the same sentence!! 😖 I am glad you're able to turn life stuff into art stuff... that's gotta help. I persist in thinking it helps me when I do it so...🤷♀️ Hang in there! Empathy to your wife and Zeke too!
I'm learning a lot about journaling and its many benefits and purposes from the various articles on Substack. Ghandi's was most profound, of course. Very much a lawyerly level of keeping track of things. I've found (after several attempts at journaling) that writing poetry gives me a proper high and records my feelings, observations, joys, and tests better than writing prose entries. We all have our ways of doing this. I love your little characters in your drawings. The "odd fellows" following the coffee is so far my favorite although that pig on ice skates is stellar. Take care and start kicking COVID's ass.
Thank you so much!! I like writing poetry too or short sayings or drawing... I've tried keeping prose journals and while they helped on one level I also found myself being far too pedantic and scholarly style serious than I really wanted to be. 🤪 Thank you for your kind comment - and we're doing our best to kick covid's ass!
I love the way your sketch books can continue to lift you, befriend you, and tend to your spirit as you recover. Thank you for sharing your practice and letting it look so gentle and easy. (You make me want to draw more!) Wishing you and your wife complete recovery and wellness!
Oh thank you so much for your wonderful comment!! It was a tonic and I felt better for reading it! Thank you for that!!! And I do hope will draw more if you want to - it's a fun way to do self-care. Thank you again!! 😊💚
Yay for friends and flowers, for coffee and skating pigs! Such a beautiful post, Sue! I'm delighted to hear that you're both beginning to feel better. Hugs hugs hugs from across the pond! 😊😊😊
Thanks for giving us a peek into your diary process. I love your dedication to its daily process.
Definitely something all artists should be doing. ...Especially the lazy one who is typing this comment. ;)
Awww thank you!! As you know I think your work is pretty darned wonderful - so please just keep going!!! 💚
I got sidelined this past week by a huge nightmare of a home remodel job (which I'll be writing about when I finish the ridiculous work.)

I’d guess most of us use diary/notebook/journal interchangeably. I certainly do! Hope you’re feeling better!!
Thank you so much!
That pig on ice! Cold comfort 🐷
Lol!!! Yes! Just imagine a pig lacing up ice skates and not wearing a stitch else!! 🤣🤣
