I love owls, and have collected owl statues and art from various parts of the world. While my current state of flu induced self-pity is not allowing me to connect with my inner owl, I am wearing my owl PJs ๐ฆ
Yes!!! I keep thinking of you as I read "bet jm rives would like this! Must remember to mention it..." so I included it in my post in hopes you'd see it!!!! Thank you for letting me know you did!!!!!!!!! ๐๐ฆ๐
So sweet your Owls ๐ฅฐ I'm going to order some of your cups for Christmas ๐ presents ๐ Thank you,Sue, for sharing and will reStack ASAP ๐ฏ๐
Thanks for this post! I have one question: do you show your sketching process in payed for videos? I love what you can achieve with so little stationery.
You're so welcome! Glad you liked it! As for your question: now and again I'll do a video in "watch me draw" style that's not under a paywall. Similarly occasionally I'll read aloud my own illustrated poetry or stories. I have a YouTube channel. But such things are few and far between. Its enough for me that I share here on my Substack each week- no paywalls - and I appreciate it when I get paying subscribers, or when someone buys one of my cups or cards or books. I am represented by several fine art galleries and I do commissions. Once upon a time I taught art classes and did more self promotions ... but nowadays I'd rather just make the art rather than talk about making the art. Thanks again!!!
Thank you for your detailed answer, Iโll search for the videos you mentioned. I once tried to buy a cup, but the shipping to Italy was crazy expensive! If Iโll come to US again I have it on my list to have one shipped to my hotel!
Oh my goodness! Thank you for even considering one of my cups!! So kind of you!!! FYI I have 24 downloadable ebooks that are free for subscribers like you here https://sueclancy.substack.com/p/clancy-ebooks
And I'll try to do a "watch me draw" video for you one of these days.... ๐๐๐๐
Yes indeed!!! And it's an apt title too in multiple ways: in the world thereโs a new genre of fiction called Hopepunk, in this book there's a character named Hope and there's references to punk music..... there's so much fun packed into this book!!!
I love owls. My adult kids learned this about me a few years ago when I sent them each their own wise bird for Valentineโs Day with the sentiment on each:
Ohmygod, Emma, is that your real birth name? Iโm not laughing. Or was it a transliteration given to your great-grandparents by one of the gatekeepers at Ellis Island when they migrated to the US via the port in NYC?
if ever there was a case for a name change, no judge would deny you!
I married a man back in the 70โs, with a 4 syllable last name. Ya, I was young and โinmanureโ. I divorced him after 5 years and two kids and took my maiden name back.
When our daughter was grown and started her own business, she shortened her birth name by taking my maiden moniker instead.
These are absolutely stunning drawings and the mug with the owl reading is my favourite! I hope to brew a cup of tea in it and sit my book, owl night long ๐๐
'Owl night long' .... lol! I think I can actually hear that little owl playing his/her banjo!!! So kind of you to bring these delicious links and news of the world beyond the 'full of baloney' regular news of the day. Love you for that!!! A real stationary store!! Lucky you! Now if I can just milk an Oligarchy or two, for all of the little treasures I see! :-) Speaking of owls, if you have a minute, check out this link with a unique set of short videos of a very grand owl in flight! The bottom video is rather smashing at seeing just how different a bird, this owl is! And oh yes the Northern Pintails is a delight too!!! :-) But the owl takes my breath away!
Oooh!!!! That video was just lovely!!!! The Owl in flight is magnificent!!!! I've seen owls in trees where I live and a couple of unconfirmed "think I saw an owl in flight" moments. Only once did I see a very obvious owl in flight: late one eve I had taken our mini dachshund out for a last grass visit before bed and low over our heads swooped an owl. ๐ณ
I'm delighted that you enjoyed my post and took the time to comment and share that wonderful link!!! Thank you!! What a treat!!!! ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐๐
So glad you liked the owl! For some reason, this owl gives me, as a human, a sense of what it would be like to fly, with our big heads. I think the face is just beautiful! The size!! Love that you have seen a live owl or two! I was lucky enough to have a great grey owl hang around for one winter. It would back it's tail up against the trunk of a large alder tree and blend right in. The intelligence in the eyes was very pronounced! Not necessarily sharp, more calmly inquisitive.
Precious!๐๐๐Iโm the blue owl with the book & coffee!! ๐๐
Lol!!!! Me too!!!! We'll sit on a branch and read together!!!!! ๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐
Cheers! Love the mugs Sue!
Cheers to you too!! And thank you!!! โ๏ธ๐โ๏ธ
