I loved reading this Sue! I can't say that I have just one notebook. I infact have multiple notebooks on multiple things. I check off or write something down daily. My main notebook is refillable, so as I use up the pages, I can get rid of them to fill it up with new paper! I have to agree with you 100% that notebooks are really good for each of us. I also have multiple sketchbooks but what artist doesn't I ask you? ;) I think a sketchbook is a must for most artists. To write, create offline today is so rare but it's needed so much. I love reading that others write offline as well. I applaud it. Wonderfully written Sue.

I also have many notebooks. But you can always use another (especially with dragons on them. Or pandas.)

Sue, sleepy thoughts can lead to great things! Your post cheered me up on this chilly, rainy Saturday. Would this goat be reading "Giles Goatboy" by John Barth?" The idea of a book with "Goatboy" just came to me, and I confirmed the rest online. I can't recall if I read that book long ago. I am adding it to my BTR (or reread) list. Enjoy your weekend!

Sue, Barth was popular back in my university years ('67- '71). I know I read something of his. It might have been that book.

Such a good read, Sue, and beautiful painted artwork on top of it. I will always believe in beauty and that is exactly why and what I share over on my Substack Rendezvous with the Earth‘s abundance. You and whoever may read this is always warmly welcome to ‚touch grass‘ and enjoy a moment of nature‘s wonders, humanity, and beauty. Thank you for spreading delight, Sue 💛.

Thank you for the shout out and the link to The Art Districts post about art as resistance. We are standing witness to a time both great and terrible. Not great like the corrupt leader of the current regime thinks of "greatness" because that is trying to fool us into thinking destruction and denigration adds up to greatness. No, that is the terrible. The great is that so many people are standing together to rise up and say NO to that.

I am saying yes to bearing witness and chronicling these times through painting, writing and comics.

You're welcome!! And yes, it does a heart good to see so much resistance happening to say NO to this regime! And me too, saying yes to bearing witness and also to giving love and support via art and writing, to making images and words to help us cope/think and even to doing the work of envisioning a better future and providing the images and words for the hopes in it. 🫶💙🫶💙🫶

Oh thank you for your wonderfully kind comment!!! And I'm glad you saw the footnotes too - they each reminded me again that there are so many good-hearted people in this world who are trying to leave the world better than they found it. We have friends and allies everywhere - they're just more subtle and so it's up to me/us to remember to pay attention. 😉 Thank you again for your kindness!!! 💙💚💙💚💙💚

It was good to see a new newsletter from you today, jam-packed with insightful goodies.

I don't know why, but I get such a kick out of your birds wearing pumps. Maybe because they lend to strutting?

Thank you!! I'm delighted that you liked everything I shared!!! Yes, the birds I see strutting in my yard do remind me of humans wearing heels - and the association of the two thoughts makes me smile so I draw it! 😆😘😉💙💚
