I love the chipper little birds and the two quotes on your wall! The quote on my study wall is "As long as one writes, ruin is averted. It doesn't all slip away." (Gunther Kunert)
You always inspire me, I just get distracted and forget to comment. 😂 I sent you a message on IG a while ago but am not sure how often you are on there. No pressure or anything, maybe you saw it, just figured I’d let you know because sometimes message requests don’t show up from people you aren’t following.
Lol!!! I'm glad I inspire you!! And I'm not always able to reply to comments or to comment myself- so I totally understand!! And I've not really been on Instagram for quite a while - super busy with my wife's health care stuff and also meeting my fine art commission deadlines. Sorry I've missed your message over on Instagram. I've resigned myself to "going to miss stuff" for a while...
What joy to sit with my morning coffee and 4 footed wee friend and find , not only your wonderful writing/drawings, but also the lovely remarks from my favorite sub stack contributors!
It delights me to hear you're enjoying this world we're all creating together!!! You've added to my joy too today!! Thank you!!! Please pat your 4 footed friend affectionately for me! 💚💚💚
What a delightful journey through your morning thoughts and creative process! Your art, cards, mugs, and creative expressions are all fueled by a genuine desire to share love and positivity with others. they are reminder to others that they are loved. It adds a warm and personal touch to your creation. Thank you Sue for spreading love and positivity through your art!
Thank you Winston for your gift of hearing/seeing what I'm doing with my work: more love and less crap. 😘💚💚💚 Thanks for being here and spreading more love (and less crap) with me!!!! Hugs!!
Aurelius' quote, inaccurate or not, will help me get out of bed from now on. I need to remember that it's better to be on this side of the grass, no matter what's going on. Thank you.
All good advice, and I didn't know about the app "what3words." I'll pass that on to my daughters. Something that really bothers me are the businesses that are not understanding about workers who drive quite a distance and can't safely get there when the weather is bad. I think that makes people take unnecessary chances.
Having lived in the OK/TX region and now having lived more than a decade in the Pacific Northwest I've experienced the difference. Here in the Pacific Northwest prior to weather events both business and individuals are strongly encouraged to close, to stay home, to work from home etc. And we're encouraged to check on our neighbors... it's a whole different way of thinking about weather and community.
It’s Saturday morning down here in Australia and I’m starting my day reading some wonderful posts by the amazing Substackers I follow. Inspirational. And a total joy. It’s lovely being part of your world. Sending warmth and birdsong and hugs. Take care dear Sue. 🤗🤗😘
It's lovely sharing this world with you!!! We're making this world together!!! I appreciate your warmth, birdsong and hugs and I wholeheartedly return them!!! Take care of yourself too dear Beth!! 🤗🤗😘💚💚💚
I hope that any snow or ice does NOT happen, because I know how crazy it gets here. I'm from Michigan, so I'm used to long and snowy winters. But Texas is not set up to handle that!
I have lived in the Oklahoma and Texas regions and "not set up to handle it" is a spectacularly polite way of describing those states inadequate responses to snow and ice events. In my experience too Colorado, Michigan and here in Washington the snow/ice responses are....ahem, much more adequate.
Hang in there - and stay as warm and safe as you can please.
My son is a paramedic in Tx and I urge people...so paramedics don’t have to risk their lives to come aide you... Check your Tires. Get your supplies now before the bad weather arrives. Buy extra water & fill up your cars. Charge up your phones!
Download the app “what3words”. It will give rescuers an Important way to find you easier, if you need it!!!! It’s ingenious!
It gives the earth grids (9ft square) with a specific 3 random words so you can convey that to be found! Words are easier than typing accurately a string of numbers- which is genius! It also employs different language options if you’re not an English speaker.
And VERY IMPORTANTLY- if you Must go out in a snow/ ice storm... l Drive Slowly.
Take water, blankets, and flashlight with new batteries in your vehicle, too.
The information you just shared is what is broadcast here in Washington during the prelude to weather events along with the encouragement to stay home, work from home, don't go out unless absolutely necessary. Many independent retail kinds of stores (non essential goods/services) will be closed during the weather events in order to discourage people running around. The city puts out info about its preparedness, what to expect etc. It's a completely different approach - and a more helpful one - to weather than what I'd experienced in OK/TX.
I love this whole thing but especially the hedgehog and the two quotes on your wall! Yes yes yes.
I'm so glad you loved it!! Thank you so much for telling me!!! 💚💚💚

How very creative and beautiful -
I’m glad your soul is both of those as well.

No Tx isn’t prepared!
