Well, I don’t know what to say, other than I loved everything about this post. And thsnk you for the poetry book recommendation; I’m rather obsessed with poetry lately! It’s just the best thing ever 🤩
I'm delighted to hear from another poetry obsessed person - I'm not alone!! Yay!! As far as poetry anthologies go this is one of the best I've found recently! I hope you're able to find a copy for yourself! And thank you for your kind words about my post today! I appreciate you!! 💙💙💙
I’ve just ordered the book. And I have a poetry book coming out in a couple of days, too! I.cant wait to share it; it’s a project I’ve worked on with my daughter who designed the cover and did the illustrations. I hope you will take a look 🙏 It’s called ILLICIT CROISSANTS AT DAWN ✨
I aim to have it with various distributors, but initially it will be Amazon. I do not live in an anglophone country, which makes the process slightly more complicated!
Thank you so much!!! Those are my favorite parts of this post too! I feel like I'm getting somewhere on my owl drawings... 😘 .... may we enjoy many of the "real luxuries" this weekend!!! Thanks again!!!! 💙💙💙
Another wonderful read. That wise owl at the end particularly resonated for some reason. Beautiful. And I’ll have to check out Rebecca’s poetry book too! Sounds like a lovely way to finish each day. 🤗🤗❤️💕
Thank you!!!! I hope you'll enjoy the poetry book too!! It's pleasant to read a poem, turn out the light for sleeping, and repeat a phrase or two from the poem until I doze off. Hugs to you!!!! 🤗🤗💙💙💙💙
Oh, okay, I understand!! (To my way of thinking, there is little in this life that can't be explained by comparing it with the writing process. Of course, that could be just me . . . )
I'm the same!!! Everything relates to the writing process… even mental health, it too relates to word choices and the rewriting process (rewriting is self-awareness)!!!!
This post is so very inspiring Perfessor Sue! I so agree that the little things in life are so important. My mom, may the thought of her be a blessing, was big (tee-her) on the little things in life.
I have a video of one of my all time favorite documentaries playing in the background. “Winter Days” a PBS Nature documentary from 1984. It’s on YouTube and is likely a copy of a copy, but it is well worth a watch. Gorgeous photography, exquisite scoring and George Page’s soothing narration elevates this piece to timelessness in its beauty.
Each scene is edited in what I characterize as simple (not simplistic) and thoughtful. It leaves space for you to think, to consider.
That video sounds delightful!!!! Just the thing!!! Thank you for telling me about it!!! Right now we're sitting outside on our patio, books in hand (my book will be back in hand when I finish replying to you) munching stalks of fresh asparagus my wife just harvested from our asparagus patch! 😊 I agree with your Mom: being big on the little things is important!!! Thanks for sharing her blessing - and for yours!! Hugs!!! 😘💙💙💙💙
Oh Sue, another sheer delight of a post - it's glorious - beautifully, beautifully blue - and not only full of all the things that matter but also an open door to discover even more such things. Happy sigh. What a terrific start to my day it's been to read this. 💙🩵❤️
I'm SO enjoying Brandreth's book, which had been a gift from my Substack friend Terry Freedman. He's got so much to say about poetry - in such a lovely, accessible way - and his selections of poems for each chapter are right up my street.
Beautiful art, beautiful thoughts, beautifully expressed! Thank you, my friend. Sending lots of love!
Oh thank you!!!! Sending you lots of appreciation and so much love!!! Thank you for writing!!! Please keep going!!!!! Hugs!!!! 💙💙💙💙
Bless all the small things in life, and you too,Sue🤗 will reStack ASAP 💯👍😃
Awwww thank you so much!!!! Hugs and love to you too!!!!! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

I love your work and look forward to your newsletter as a much needed break from politics and chaos. I am so appreciative of your incredible talent.
Thank you!!! I so appreciate your support and encouragement today! I needed that!! 💙💙💙💙💙💙

I love how the "act of kindness" sketch turned out. It's so vivid and full of life!
Thank you so much!!!! The trick is building up layers... basically multiple re-writing sessions until it's done! 🤣😆😘💙💙💙💙

I’m outback in the yard watching the hummingbirds, reading the ‘stacks and enjoying afternoon coffee. Cheers to you both, ☕️☕️😄
