Love a good pun and 'mouse fly' is my new favorite! Thank you for sharing how you make your drawings. My eyes are as big as the turtles looking at those golden wings! ❤️

Mouse-fly, how super cute and she is drawn to coffee. My kind of mouse-fly 😍. But honestly, I fell absolutely in love with the Book Mobile. Your genius turtle reminded me of stories I have written that I thought were more for kids, but seeing how your drawings ignite joy in me, I may have to think again. I wrote them in German and they still only sit on my cloud… I feel they should be out there, but I don‘t know yet how. In the meantime, I enjoy the illustrations of your fantasy.

Thank you so much!!! I'm delighted my drawings sparked your joy!! We adults, in my opinion, need joy and whimsy and playfulness - a bit of joy regularly- to help us get through our "serious adult" lives. Similarly we need access to beauty and thoughtfulness and hope.* Art, in my opinion, is the stuff at the top of Maslow's hierarchy of needs pyramid. Merely surviving, doing "serious adult stuff", isn't enough for being mentally healthy and well rounded. Anyway, I hope you do pull out your stories and play with them again!!! 💚💚💚💚💚

*Have you read about the new adult fictional genre "hopepunk"? That's part of what I'm thinking of...

So agree with you, Sue. That is why what I do over at my Substack is sharing beauty and hope, too.

No, I have never heard of „hopepunk“ but will for sure check it out. Thank you for the hint.

Not sure whether I shall jump into the search for an agent for my book or rather start telling the stories and sharing them

as audios. I don‘t know 🤔.

My immediate thought was the stage play, "Six Characters in Search on an Author." You have three characters in search of picture book! That gold is indeed magical. I don't think you've use it before?

Lol!!! I love that!! “Characters in search of an author”!!!! 🤣🤣

Yes, the gold is a brand new paint! Just hot it from Beam Paints (www.beampaint.com) and this was it's first use!! I like it! I am curious how - or if - it will behave if I use it in reproductions, like on my coffee mugs. But it's lovely for use in my sketchbook!!

Yes, that play was very meta, in an absurdist kind of way. I look for an encore performance of the gold paint!

The early bird in first sketch reads all about catching the worm. Glad the cat purrs somewhere else. Turtle talks to encourage reading. Thank you note appreciated as your fine lines color my day with joy and my coffee spurs me on with toast and jam.

Oh, the mouse fly is adorable - and I love the sparkly gold - it's on the bird's head, too, and it's glorious!

You have such an eye - no, a gift! - for capturing magic, Sue. Awesome, awesome art and words, as always. ❤️
